When the Rain Doesn't Stop

If you've lived in Minnesota for any length of time, you know we love to talk about the weather. We compare snow totals in the winter, celebrate the first warm days of spring, and joke about how quickly summer can turn hot and humid. This week has been especially warm, and honestly, a cooling rain sounds pretty refreshing.

But there is another kind of rain that isn't nearly as welcome.

I'm talking about the seasons in life when the storms don't seem to end. The unexpected diagnosis. The strained marriage. Anxiety that won't let go. Grief that lingers. The loss of a job. Depression that makes even simple tasks feel overwhelming. The loneliness that quietly settles into your heart.

Sometimes it feels like the clouds just keep rolling in.

As Christians, we can mistakenly believe that following Jesus should somehow protect us from life's hardships. Yet Scripture tells a different story. Jesus Himself said, "In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world" (John 16:33).

Following Christ doesn't exempt us from suffering. Instead, it gives us hope in the middle of it.

Some people wonder if seeking counseling means their faith isn't strong enough.

Others ask themselves, "Shouldn't I just pray more?" or "If I trusted God enough, wouldn't I feel better?"

We can wholeheartedly trust Jesus and seek counseling.

God often works through people. He uses physicians to care for our bodies, pastors to shepherd our souls, trusted friends to encourage us, and counselors to help us process the painful experiences and emotions that can leave us feeling stuck.

Counseling isn't a replacement for faith. It can be one of the ways God cares for us during difficult seasons.

Healing Is a Process

Finding the right therapist takes time. Learning to trust someone with your story takes courage. Healing is a process.

As a Christian counselor, I don't have all the answers. My goal isn't to "fix" you.

Instead, I strive to provide a safe place where you can honestly share your story without fear of judgment. Together, we explore what you're carrying, work through the challenges you're facing, and continually bring those burdens before Christ.

Ultimately, Jesus is the One who brings lasting healing. I simply have the privilege of walking alongside you as He does His work.

You Don't Have to Weather the Storm Alone

Storms eventually pass. Our world may look very different after the storm, but while we are in the middle of it, the rain can feel endless.

If you've been carrying burdens that seem too heavy to bear on your own, know that reaching out for help isn't a sign of weak faith. It can be an act of wisdom, humility, and trust in God who provides help through the people He places in our lives.

So, if the rain in your life doesn't seem to stop, I'd love to hand you an umbrella.

We can walk through the storm together, trusting that even when the skies are dark, God remains faithful.

If you're looking for Christian online counseling in Minnesota, I'd be honored to walk alongside you, even in the rain.
